Bringing out the best in Scottville and Mason County since 1953

With the purpose of supporting local youth and community, Scottville Optimist Club was founded in 1953.

For 71 years, the club has brought together optimistic people to help Scottville and surrounding areas by fundraising, advocating, donating, and volunteering.

Our Mission

By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in our youth, our communities, and ourselves.

Our Creed

We live by a creed that focuses on positivity. Read it here.

Our Purpose

  • To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed;

  • To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs;

  • To inspire respect for the law;

  • To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people;

  • To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.

Our Contributions

Locally, we’ve donated more than $55,000 in the past 10 years. Moving forward, we plan to donate $10,000 every year. We’ve also spent countless hours volunteering and advocating.
